The principle focus of the DBN is to bridge the gap in business services for people from historically minoritized groups. The DBN enables and equips members to reach their potential, overcoming barriers and connecting with appropriate support services. Building on our existing networks and partnerships, we have drawn together small businesses from around the UK we have been able to provide free tickets to national business shows, share information on grant funding and provide a platform for members to network and showcase their business.

The DBN aims to create a safe and inclusive space for our members to learn, collaborate and excel in their business endeavours. By working together and sharing our expertise to enable all members to develop good practice.

Members will only be able to join by referral, the DBN community is maintained as a safe space. We require all our members are referred by existing members or patrons. What we do

The Diverse Business Network (DBN) began in 2020 as a small online networking event for Black and Ethnic Minority small business owners to come together each month to support each other.

Utilizing the findings from reports such as Natwest’s Time to Change or FSB’s Unlocking Opportunity which highlight the challenges for minoritized groups to access business development, finance or other support services. The DBN has been established as a Limited by Guarantee Business, to support small businesses overcome the challenges and barriers which prevent longevity and success. By working collaboratively our members can achieve improved outcomes.

Building a community

We quickly realized that serving the wider Diverse business community and including business owners who identify under any of the protected characteristics as well as allies, provided a more inclusive and supportive environment for our community. By enabling our members to showcase, their expertise and experience. Responding to our members requests, developing partnerships and creating opportunities. We have negotiated access to events, services and discounts for our members to support them in developing their business and reputation.
